Jeng-Shyang Pan received the B. S. degree in Electronic Engineering from the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology in 1986, the M. S. degree in Communication Engineering from the National Chiao Tung University, Taiwan in 1988, and the Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Edinburgh, U.K. in 1996. Currently, he is a Professor in the Department of Electronic Engineering, National Kaohsiung University of Applied Sciences, Taiwan. He is also invited to be the Doctoral advisor both in University of South Australia and Harbin Institute of Technology. He has published more than 370 papers in which 92 papers are indexed by SCI. He is the IET Fellow, UK and the Tainan Chapter Chair, IEEE Signal Processing Society. He jointed the editorial board of International Journal of Innovative Computing, Information and Control, LNCS Transactions on Data Hiding and Multimedia Security, International Journal of Hybrid Intelligent System , ICIC Express Letters, Intenational Journal of Computer Sciences and Engineering Systems, and Journal of Information Hiding and Multimedia Signal Processing. His current research interests include soft computing, information security and signal processing.

He received the degrees of Bachelor and Master from Kyushu Institute of Design in 1979 and 1981, and the degree of Doctor of Engineering from Toyohashi University of Technology in 1991
He had worked for the Central Research Laboratories of Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. from April, 1981 to March, 1995. He was a Visiting Industrial Fellow of the University of California at Berkeley from October, 1991 to September, 1993, hosted by Prof. Lotfi A. Zadeh of Computer Science Division. He has worked for Kyushu Institute of Design since April, 1995 as an Associate Professor. He belonged to Department of Acoustic Design in 1995 - 1999 and Department of Art and Information Design in 1999 - 2003. Kyushu Institute of Design and Kyushu University merged into one on October 1, 2003, and his affiliation name changed to Facullty of Design, Kyushu University.
Prof. Takagi is interested in Computational Intelligence such as neural networks, fuzzy systems, evolutionary computations, and other so-called Soft Computing technologies, especially cooperation of these technologies. Currently, his interest focuses on Interactive Evolutionary Computation which aims the cooperation of human and evolutionary computation. He is also interested in signal processing and human-machine interface.

Mohan Trivedi received his PhD in Electrical Engineering from Utah State University in 1979, after completing undergraduate work in India. At Utah State, he received a Graduate Research Scholarship, and went on to teach at .... He has published extensively and has edited over a dozen volumes including books, special issues, video presentations, and conference proceedings. Trivedi is a recipient of the Pioneer Award and the Meritorious Service Award from the IEEE Computer Society; and the Distinguished Alumnus Award from Utah State University. He is a Fellow of the International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE). He is a founding member of the Executive Committee of the UC System-wide Digital Media Innovation Program (DiMI). Trivedi is also Editor-inChief of Machine Vision & Applications

Prof. Mohan U. Deshpande is currently the Principal Consultant with the Raisoni Group of Institutions in charge of faculty mentoring and continuous quality upgradation of Post Graduate Engineering Programs since July 2006. He was earlier with the IIT, Bombay as Professor and Coordinator of Satellite based Distance Education Program from 2002 to 2006.
Previously he had worked as the Director, VNIT. Nagpur; Director, Distance Education Council, IGNOU, New Delhi, and Advisor, AICTE and Member Secretary of the National Board of Accreditation, New Delhi.
He received his PhD in 1974 from Nagpur University, M Tech in 1967 from IIT Delhi, and BE from Nagpur University in 1964.
He has several years of teaching and research experience, which include post doctoral years at the University of Akron, Ohio, and the University of Florida, Gainesville, USA, apart from the 35 years he spent in Electrical Enggg Deptt. at VRCE/VNIT.
He has more than 25 publications in British, North American, and Indian journals, periodicals, and conferences. His main focus has been on the spread of quality Engineering Education by Distance/IT mediated techniques, Development of effective and simplified criteria for accreditation, Quality assessment of educational and training programmes, and provision of special self learning materials, especially for higher technical education in general and E learning in particular.

He was also the Past Chairman of the Institution of Engineer (India) and the Institution of Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering Nagpur Local center. He is intimately connected with several Social and Cultural Organizations including Freemasonry and Classical Music.

 

Ronald R. Yager

Ronald R. Yager has worked in the area of machine intelligence for over twenty-five years. He has published over 500 papers and fifteen books in areas related to fuzzy sets, decision making under uncertainty and the fusion of information. He is among the worlds top 1% most highly cited researchers with over 7000 citations. He was the recipient of the IEEE Computational Intelligence Society Pioneer award in Fuzzy Systems. Dr. Yager is a fellow of the IEEE, the New York Academy of Sciences and the Fuzzy Systems Association. He was given a life time achievement award by the Polish Academy of Sciences for his contributions. He served at the National Science Foundation as program director in the Information Sciences program. He was a NASA/Stanford visiting fellow and a research associate at the University of California, Berkeley. He has been a lecture at NATO Advanced Study Institutes. He is a distinguished honorary professor at the Aalborg University Denmark. He is an affiliated distinguished researcher at the European Center for Soft Computing. He received his undergraduate degree from the City College of New York and his Ph. D. from the Polytechnic University of New York. Currently, he is Director of the Machine Intelligence Institute and Professor of Information Systems at Iona College.He is editor and chief of the International Journal of Intelligent Systems. He serves on the editorial board of numerous technology journals.

Valentina E. Balas is currently an Associate Professor in the Department of Automatics and Applied Software at the Faculty of Engineering, University Aurel Vlaicu Arad (Romania).
She holds a Ph.D. in Applied Electronics and Telecommunications from Polytechnic University of
Timisoara since 2003. She is author of more than 100 research papers in refereed journals and
International Conferences. Her research interests are in Intelligent Systems, Fuzzy Control, Soft
Computing, Smart Sensors, Information Fusion, Modeling and Simulation, Electronics, Measurements and System Theory.
She is Editor-in Chief to International Journal of Advanced Intelligence Paradigms (IJAIP), member in Editorial Boards for national and international journals, serves as reviewer for many International Journals and conferences and is evaluator expert for national and international projects.
She participated in many international conferences as General Chair, Organizer, Session Chair and member in International Program Committee.
She was mentor for many student teams in Microsoft (Imagine Cup), Google and IEEE competitions in the last six years.
Dr. Valentina Balas has a great experience in research projects.
She is member of EUSFLAT, ACM and a Senior Member IEEE, member in TC - Emergent Technologies (IEEE CIS) and member in TC Soft Computing (IEEE SMCS).

Vaclav Snasel

Vaclav Snasel's research and development experience includes over 25 years in the Industry and Academia. He works in a multi-disciplinary environment involving artificial intelligence, multidimensional data indexing, conceptual lattice, information retrieval, semantic web, knowledge management, data compression, machine intelligence, neural network, web intelligence, data mining and applied to various real world problems. He has given more than 5 plenary lectures and conference tutorials in these areas. He has authored/co-authored several refereed journal/conference papers and book chapters. He has published more than 350 papers. He has supervised many Ph.D. students from Czech Republic, Jordan, Yemen, Slovakia, Ukraine and Vietnam.
From 2001 he is a visiting scientist in the Institute of Computer Science, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. From 2003 he is vice-dean for Research and Science at Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, VSB-Technical University of Ostrava, Czech Republic. He is full professor since 2006. Before turning into a full time academic, he was working with industrial company where he was involved in different industrial research and development projects for nearly 8 years. He received Ph.D. degree in Algebra and Geometry from Masaryk University, Brno, Czech Republic and a Master of Science degree from Palacky University, Olomouc, Czech Republic.
Besides, the Editor-in-Chief of two journals, he also serves the editorial board of some reputed International journals. He is actively involved in the International Conference on Computational Aspects of Social Networks (CASoN); Computer Information Systems and Industrial Management (CISIM); Evolutionary Techniques in Data Processing (ETID) series of International conferences. He is a Member of IEEE, ACM, AMS and SIAM.

Mario Koeppen,

Mario Koeppen received his master degree in solid state physics in 1991. He worked as scientific assistant at the Central Institute for Cybernetics and Information Processing in Berlin and changed his main research interests to image processing and neural networks. From 1992 to 2006, he was working with the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Systems and Design Technology. He achieved the doctoral degree at the Technical University Berlin with his thesis works: "Development of an intelligent image processing system by using soft computing". He has published around 100 peer-reviewed papers in conference proceedings, journals and books and was active in the organization of various conferences as chair or member of the program committee, incl. the WSC on-line conference series on Soft Computing in Industrial Applications, and the HIS conference series on Hybrid Intelligent Systems. He is founding member of the World Federation of Soft Computing, and also member of the editorial board of the Applied Soft Computing journal, the Intl. Journal on Hybrid Intelligent Systems and the Intl. Journal on Computational Intelligence Reserach.
